Sometimes, You Don’t Need New. You Need a New Point of View.
When we first walked into this dining room, there were already pieces worth keeping. The glass dining table, white upholstered chairs and sculptural chandelier all had great bones. They simply weren’t being given the surroundings they needed to shine.
So rather than starting over, we created around them.
A bold new printed grasscloth accent wall brought movement and warmth to the room, while the oversized round mirror gave the dining wall a focal point and allowed the chandelier to become part of the composition rather than simply hanging above the table. A new hide-on-hair rug softened the existing cherry hardwood and introduced another quiet layer of pattern underfoot.
The window seat became more than an architectural feature with a custom cushion and an unexpected mix of velvet pillows, it’s now an inviting place to sit. New custom charcoal-stained cabinets, charcoal grey dining benches, artwork and sculptural accessories added layers of personality and function into the room, while touches of brass, black, cream, and those little jolts of ochre and turquoise gave everything a connection without making it feel overly coordinated.
And perhaps that’s our favorite part of this transformation.
The pieces the homeowner already loved didn’t have to go. They just needed a better supporting cast.
Good design isn’t always about replacing what you have. Sometimes it’s about recognizing what’s already working, knowing what isn’t, and creating the right layers around it.
Because when the room changes, sometimes the things you already own suddenly feel brand new.
