Sometimes you simply know when you’re ready for a change. For this homeowner, it was the color and darkness of her existing kitchen. She was ready for light, bright and fresh, but she also wanted the new kitchen to work harder for the way her family actually lives.
And this family loves to entertain. The kitchen is truly the hub of all things fun, so maximizing countertop space was at the top of our list. New cabinetry and countertops were designed around her cooking flow, giving her more room to prep, serve and gather without sacrificing storage.
We also wanted the kitchen to feel personal. She has a collection of special kitchen pieces that deserved to be seen, so we incorporated glass-front cabinetry near the range, turning everyday storage into a place to showcase some of her favorites.
And then came one of our favorite transformations: the hood.
We said goodbye to the traditional microwave-over-the-range setup and installed a beautiful statement hood instead. It wasn’t the easiest installation, but it became such an important part of the finished kitchen, adding character and a focal point while complementing the new white-and-bright palette beautifully.
In the end, this wasn’t about changing everything just for the sake of change. It was about giving a well-loved, well-used room more light, more workspace and a whole lot more breathing room.
Because when the kitchen is where everyone wants to be, it should feel like it.
