Cozy Home Office

Lets start with that statement window, she’s swell isn’t she! But as many of you who work predominantly on computers know, the lighting in your office space is a very important, and personal thing.

The homeowner knew she wanted to face outward while working. Which meant that the ominous sunlight from the windows needed to be tamed. She also wanted to create a relaxing vibe for the person seated across from her, in the arm chair.

So, mission custom drapery commenced. The challenge with these drapes was that each panel needed to pull out to the midpoint, as well as, draw back neatly AND fully to just inside the molding.

Last cute little detail shown here is the foot stool. Foot stools in general are making a showing again. They have a lot of character, and leave a small footprint. Much smaller than an ottoman, and actually at a much better ergonomic height for your foot’s rest. This originally had her grandmother’s hand done needle point on it. Since she didn’t want anyone to put their feet on that relic, we decided to pull it off, reupholster and make the piece into a small throw pillow which she now has in her foyer. The drapery fabric, new foot stool upholstery, and the birch tree artwork all talk to one another in palette and hue. This artwork was a favorite for both, because it was reminiscent of where they grew up, amongst the birch trees of the upper midwest.
