The Art of Coming Home
Every time I travel, I come home with more than photographs and souvenirs.
I come home with a feeling.
Each destination introduces me to a new environment, and with every new space comes a different rhythm. Some places make me feel calmer. Others spark creativity or encourage me to slow down and appreciate the little things. Sometimes it’s the colors that linger with me. Other times it’s the textures, the natural light, the simplicity of the furnishings, or the effortless way a room invites you to breathe a little deeper.
As an interior designer, I pay attention to those moments because they remind me that the spaces we spend time in have a profound effect on how we live. The best interiors don’t simply look beautiful. They make us feel something.
That’s the philosophy I bring to every project as The Decorating Therapist. My goal isn’t just to create attractive homes. It’s to design environments that support the life you want to live. Spaces that inspire creativity, encourage connection, promote relaxation, or simply make you smile the moment you walk into them.
The next time you’re away, take a moment to notice what resonates with you. Is it the warm wood tones? The soft linens? The peaceful color palette? The abundance of natural light? Ask yourself why that particular place feels so restorative.
Then imagine how those same feelings could be woven into your own home.
Perhaps there’s a room you’ve never quite finished, or a forgotten corner that’s waiting to become your favorite place to read, create, recharge, or simply be still.
Sometimes the greatest souvenir from a vacation isn’t something you pack in your suitcase, but what sparks in your mind!
It’s the inspiration to create a home that makes you feel that way every single day.
I don’t design rooms to impress people. I design spaces that change the way people feel.
