Southern Living Vibes

This mood board was created to breathe new life into a beloved 25-year-old dining room—one that had grown a bit too heavy with its deep red walls and dark wood tones. The goal wasn’t to erase the history, but to evolve it into something lighter, fresher, and more inviting. We envisioned a space that still felt classic and rooted, but with an airier palette and updated details that bring in a sense of calm elegance—something you’d see in Southern Living or Veranda Magazine, but still feel right at home in.

The new wall color, “Peaceful Garden” by Benjamin Moore, instantly lifts the room. It’s a soft, earthy green that pairs beautifully with the surrounding trim and warms up the woodwork in a much gentler way. The dining chairs were reupholstered using a botanical-inspired print and a nubby, fresh green seat fabric—choices that nod to tradition but feel playful and layered.

The rug adds just the right amount of detail with its golden damask pattern on a light ivory base, creating a sense of softness underfoot without stealing attention. We added a gold-framed mirror to bounce the light around, and a statement chandelier with crystal tiers that glimmer just enough to say, this is a special place.

It’s the kind of room that makes you want to linger longer after dinner, pour another glass of wine, and take in the beauty of a space that finally feels as graceful and welcoming as the people who gather in it.

Allow me to help you reinvent that room so you too can find peace in function and design!
