Window Coverings
. . . to match your lifestyle needs!
There are lots of reasons why my clients put window coverings on their windows. It’s my job to eliminate the confusion by presenting the best options to meet the issues they face in their homes. Everyone has different needs – to provide privacy, to control the amount of light coming in, to control the temperature, or a combination of all three.
Privacy is usually the number one issue, especially if you live in a community where your home is visible from the street, or if your neighbor’s homes are only 20’-30’ away. With most homes having windows on all sides you might be able to watch your neighbor’s television at night, and vice versa, which most of my clients DON’T want! Solution = window coverings.
And it may be an issue of providing peace of mind. I had a client on a large wooded lot, with beautiful huge windows on the back of the house and a spectacular view by day. However, she insisted on windows coverings that could be lowered at night because it spooked her to have so much darkness outside. Having motorized shades that she could control with an app on her phone gave her the emotional comfort she needed when they were closed at night.
Another issue is often light control, whether it’s providing room darkening shades to prevent the early summer sunrise from waking you and the kids or to block out your neighbor’s flood lights at night, to preventing the glare on the television during the day when you want to watch the game.
Window coverings are also used to help control the temperature in your home and make your HVAC system more efficient, whether it’s to block the late afternoon sunlight that can significantly heat up your home or to prevent cold winter drafts that chill it down.
Every room of your home may vary because there will be specific needs for those windows, so don’t be locked into putting the same window coverings on each window. Sometimes enough privacy will be met with simple flowy drapery that will offer transparency for you to still see the view. Sometimes wooden blinds or fabric Roman shades may be the answer to incorporate function, pattern and color.
Whatever your style and need, there are lots of choices and I will provide you with the best options to fit your perfect design solution!
