Let’s Talk About You Now

HOW THINGS HAVE CHANGED

I can’t tell you how much design consultations have changed in the past 2 years. Let’s just say, there has been a noticeable shift!
What matters has completely changed, and in my opinion… for the better.
Now, what matters most in home updates and renovations has everything to do with the comfort of the homeowners, and less of what will impress guests, which up until recently was usually flipped.

PROMISING DESIGN SHIFTS

This year has launched on a colorful start. The all too familiar “grey and greige” safety net has finally broken with a major shift towards intentional use of, you guessed it— COLOR !
During the pandemic, people have had time to think more extensively about not only what they need, but what they WANT in their homes.
The desire for color to convey energy and emotion has been requested over 50% more than in the past decade!
We are seeing a much more bold use of saturated tones, mixed with warm woods and bright accents. I’m inspired by this yearning to be more daring and bold. With this open minded freedom, we can have much more range to layer color and texture within the design.

PATTERNS AND TEXTURES

Boy, has this been fun to reintroduce! I have always been passionate about gorgeous textiles, from intricate wovens to bold printed patterns. They offer not just visual detail, but vibe… better known as CHARACTER for those in my genre of appreciation 😉

Why have we been on a pattern hiatus for so long?!!!
The use of a successful repeat pattern can act as a source of installation art for any room. In so many cases, the accent or story telling of the space can come through in the patterns, it’s all how macro or discreetly they are used.

From drapery to furniture to wall covering, textured and dimensional choices are becoming more main stream. Embroidery, velvet and boucle are making a strong comeback, just a few sumptuous textures that offer more luxurious quality and presence to the room.

I am so excited to see the eagerness to try more mood based paints, fabrics, and furniture, signaling a move away from the expected and safe design decisions.
No matter what stage of the updating and
renovation process you are in, I can help make it an easy transition with your best options.
