THE CHANGE OF SEASONS
This time of year is where we start to put away the cozy, mood-soothing decor from around the house, and replace it with eye-opening and energy lifting elements. As we put away those last few remnants of winter, we start to invite in the colors of spring as well as feature decor to represent the turning of seasons. We are very fortunate to live in an area that truly expresses all 4 seasons. Spring is a unique time around the world for rebirth, with many cultures celebrating that with observance of holidays.
HOW CAN I BRING IN THE SPRING?
Often, home decor is inspired by the holidays and Spring is loaded with many of them where we entertain, and sometimes for more than one cultural celebration. The beauty and history behind many of the holiday serving pieces, talismans and foods, bring in the hues of the season. The symbolism and character of holiday traditions serve as objects of art in every corner.
BRING IN THE OUTSIDE, INSIDE!
Spring is a time for color. Hues of purity and blossoming. There is power in the fresh new leaf and grass greens, brighter blues in the sky, and blooming shrubs and flowers with buds of bright yellows. These earliest colors lend themselves beautifully to merging different holiday and spring decor within the home.
I encourage live plants and florals to be brought into the home, because they bring in beauty, clean air, detoxification, and fresh scents. Which brings me to my next topic…
FRAGRANCE
There are so many wonderful options now for bringing scent into your homes. From diffused oils, to reed sticks, high end candles and Lampe Berger lamps. As you do your decluttering don’t forget to bring in elements of new, mood cleansing, fragrance!
SPRING GLEAMING
Another big change, yet very easy to design and complete — painting! Perhaps this season is the right time to finally make those changes to rooms that have been needing a facelift. Paint color can make a dramatic shift in energy, impression and mood for your rooms. Yes, you heard it right, Spring “Gleaming”! And, while you’re moving everything to paint, this is also a terrific time to RE-ARRANGE the furniture. Redirecting the focal point can give a room a whole new life, and function!
