Your Home, Your Style

“Be faithful to your own taste because nothing you really like is ever out of style.”
–BILLY BALDWIN

For me, that sentiment has a strong meaning because I really strive to have the spaces I work on BE A REFLECTION of my clients’ style. Not of my own or what’s necessarily on designer trend. A good designer has a way of asking the right questions, and learning a great deal from their clients so that there is not only a palette and style articulated, but also a mood and emotion that needs to come through. For me, a redesign consists of making things so your life not only looks, but FEELS better and above all else– is more functional!

IF YOU LOVE IT, DOES IT MATTER?

The answer is, no. Personal style and “feel good” elements are different for everyone. And at the same time, one of the most important parts of a room. In fact, there are times when a single piece of furniture, or even a piece of art… serve as the impetus to an entire room makeover.
It’s that “feel good” piece!

DOES YOUR HOME MATCH YOUR STYLE?

Part of sticking to your style, is knowing how you are planning to use it, as in– LIFEstyle.

One of the first questions I discuss with my clients is– ‘what’s your exit strategy?’
If the plan is to stay put, that may inspire us to put an addition on the ground floor to create the master suite. Or perhaps taking an old living room and turning that into a master lair. There are several creative ways of making lifestyle improvements to be more comfortable and a better use of your space, longterm.

On the other hand, if you are approaching an investment with your home, and thinking to move in 3-5 yrs then the way we approach your remodel is handled differently.
No matter how long we plan on enjoying our home, we always want it to reflect our sense of well being and comfort. There are plenty of ways to select color, furniture and fabric to accommodate you and your family now. But also feel clean and appealing to show when you’re ready to find your next abode!
