Interior Design for your Heart and Mind

In this couple’s eclectic and cozy living space, I took sentimental items from their previous living space(s), and combined them with new elements to meet their lifestyle and taste.
Coming from 2 households, this well traveled couple decided to get rid of almost ALL of the furnishings they had prior, and start fresh. However, they held sentimental value in some of the furniture, accessory pieces, and most certainly all of the artwork and sculpture collected throughout their travels. So what we have done here is start out with a— sofa, couple of chairs and a rug. And that’s what started the color palette.

Then I added a Bernhardt Furniture Company coffee table and pendant lighting to play with the 10 foot ceilings. I wanted to use something large to serve as a fun statement piece. Lucked out with this triple hung gem from Eurofase Lighting. It combines a whisper of industrial with a touch of modern, and echos much of the international feel that their accessories share!
Lastly, refining the seating arrangement was a must. Prior, the seating position was unintentionally too formal and pushed against room’s walls. So, to create a sense of greeting, I skewed the sofa to face the stairwell, framed by the two teal arm chairs, and thus creating that welcoming atmosphere when coming up the entry stairs.
